My favorite time for a smoothie is after I get home from the gym, right before I shower.
I recently got some hulled hemp seeds for smoothies to try and beef up my protein intake (a big concern for me).
Here’s be smoothie recipe from last night, makes two 12oz smoothies approximately.
- 3 tbsp hemp hearts (hulled hemp seed)
- 1 tbsp dried coconut flakes
- 6-8 ounces coconut water
- 1 medium avocado
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- One bunch of steamed kale
- Smaller handful of steamed spinach (I steam the spinach and kale together for 5 mins)
- 1-2 cups of ice
How to: This smoothie is very straight forward, and delicious! The prep can be done in under 20 mins including the kale and spinach steaming and cutting up a fresh pineapple (frozen or canned chunks would work too). If you don’t want to use coconut water – use something else light, there’s no need to add a bunch of extra sugar when the pineapple is so sweet already. Blend well until the kale is totally destroyed and the avocado is not chunky.
